Professor Vivekanand Jha is the President of the International Society of Nephrology. He also covers the role of Executive Director at the The George Institute for Global Health, India. Prof Jha is recognized as a global expert on kidney disease and focuses on emerging public health threats globally and in India. He currently leads research projects operating in more than 20 countries. He is particularly interested in using multi-disciplinary approaches and innovations to address the system level health and economic challenge posed to humanity by non-communicable diseases. He has published over320 peer reviewed papers , many in the most prestigious journals in the world and over 40 book chapters. He has leadership position in many organisations. He is a member of Task Force and Scientific Advisory Committee of Department of Science and Technology of Government of India, an Advisor to the WHO and has been on Editorial Boards of major journals. He also has been a section editor of the Oxford Textbook of Clinical Nephrology.

Dr Barnali Das is the Consultant in Laboratory Medicine division of Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital & Medical Research Institute, Mumbai. She has been recipient of two oration awards and four international and seven national awards from American Association of Clinical Chemistry (AACC Outstanding Speaker Award), International Federation of Clinical Chemistry & Laboratory Medicine (IFCC Development of Quality Competence in Medical Laboratories- DQMCL Award) and College of American Pathologist (CAP Inspector Excellence Honour for the year 2018).

Dr Raja Ramachandran is a specialist in Renal Medicine and joined the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh, India in 2011 after completing his fellowship from the same Institute. His primary field of interest is on glomerular diseases, the economics of renal transplantation and pregnancy related-AKI. Dr Ramachandran is a recipient of the ISN Young Investigator Award (Developing country- Top Clinical Science) at WCN 2015, Cape Town.

Dr Mark Thomas has been a Consultant Nephrologist and Physician at Heartlands Hospital and the University Hospitals in Birmingham since 1998. He has had a research interest in acute kidney injury (AKI) and chronic kidney disease for some years. He was chief investigator for the Acute Kidney Outreach to Reduce Deterioration and Death (AKORDD) study, a large pilot study of AKI outreach. He has chaired four guideline committees for NICE (including AKI, and anaemia management in CKD).  He is co-author of Understanding Kidney Diseases, a textbook whose second edition was published in 2020.

Dr Samira Bell was appointed as Consultant Nephrologist in Dundee, Scotland in 2009 after completing her renal training in the West of Scotland. She obtained her medical degree (MBChB) in 1999 and Doctor of Medicine in 2007 from the University of Glasgow.She was awarded a NHS Research Scotland Fellowship funded by the Chief Scientists Office in 2013 and was appointed as a Clinical Senior Lecturer at the University of Dundee in 2019. She is currently chair of the Scottish Renal Registry.Her research interests include the use of routinely collected healthcare data for renal epidemiology with a particular interest in acute kidney injury.

Dr Richard Fluck qualified at Trinity Hall, Cambridge and the Royal London Hospital before training in Nephrology at Barts and the Royal London. He moved to Derby in 1996 as consultant renal physician and established an active clinical research programme with colleagues. From 2013 he was National Clinical Director for Renal Medicine at NHS England and established and led the Think Kidneys programme to improve the management of acute kidney injury. During the COVID pandemic he has been the clinical director for the renal incident team at NHS England.

Dr Chris Laing is a consultant nephrologist at University College London Hospital and Royal Free Hospital London, and is Divisional Clinical Director of Emergency Services UCLH. He trained in nephrology, internal medicine and critical care and undertook research in renal tubular disease and physiology with UCL and INSERM Paris. He founded London AKI Network, was a guideline development group member for NICE AKI, co-chaired the education workstream of the National AKI Programme (Think Kidneys) and clinically led a large scale improvement programme in AKI for the UCL Partners AHSN. He clinically led the DeepMind Health Royal Free Streams-AKI implementation and has an interest in digital health and data science.

Marlies Ostermann is a Consultant in Critical Care and Nephrology at Guy’s & St Thomas Hospital in London. She has a special clinical and research interest in all aspects of acute kidney injury and renal replacement therapy.  She is Chair of the AKI section of the European Society of Intensive Care Medicine and an active member of the Intensive Care Society UK, the Renal Association and the International Society of Nephrology.
